Consumer Affairs & Protection
Assembly
The New York State Assembly Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee develops and reviews legislation safeguarding consumers’ rights, addressing false advertising, product safety, data privacy, unfair business practices, and access to accurate information. The committee’s work supports a marketplace that is fair, transparent, and safe for all New Yorkers.
The Committee oversees General Business Law (consumer protection provisions, product labeling, fair debt collection), sections of Executive Law (Division of Consumer Protection), Agriculture and Markets Law (food labeling and weights and measures), and related statutes covering consumer fraud.
Assembly Member Nily Rozic is Chair; the Ranking Member is a senior Republican. The committee consists of about 15 members and generally meets as scheduled during session, with up-to-date lists on the official Assembly website.
