Description

The New York State Assembly Governmental Operations Committee reviews and advances legislation impacting the structure, efficiency, and transparency of New York’s state government and affiliated public authorities. Its focus includes government reorganization, performance and accountability, procurement and contracting, public records and open meetings, minority and women-owned business development, and the state’s response to emergencies and regulatory reforms. The Committee has authority over Executive Law (governing state agencies, commissions, and emergency management), State Finance Law (procurement and contracting), Public Officers Law (public ethics, Open Meetings Law, and Freedom of Information Law), General Municipal Law, and related statutes underpinning the organization of state government.
