Senate
The Senate Disabilities Committee oversees legislation relating to the rights, services, and accessibility for New Yorkers with disabilities. It addresses issues from independent living, accessibility in housing and transportation, to employment and health care, ensuring equity and opportunity.
The committee has jurisdiction over Mental Hygiene Law (disability services), Social Services Law, Civil Rights Law (anti-discrimination protections), Public Health Law (access to care), and Education Law (special education and support).
Chaired by a majority party senator, with a ranking minority member, its membership is around 7–9. Meetings are typically scheduled during session weeks, with details on the Senate website.
