The committee advocates for strong labor protections and job opportunities to meet the evolving needs of New York’s workforce.
The committee’s jurisdiction includes Labor Law (covering wages, overtime, workplace conditions), Workers’ Compensation Law, sections of Civil Service Law (public sector labor), and Employment Agency Law. It also considers elements of General Business Law related to employment practices.
Senator Jessica Ramos is the current Chair, with Senator Jack Martens as Ranking Member. The committee includes approximately 13–15 members and meets regularly during the legislative session; meeting schedules and rosters are available on the Senate website.
