Senate
The Senate Libraries Committee advances legislation and oversight concerning public, academic, and school libraries, digital access, broadband, library construction aid, and educational technology. The committee’s priorities include equitable library funding, expanding digital and physical information access, and promoting library modernization throughout New York.
Its jurisdiction covers Education Law (library systems and aid), Arts and Cultural Affairs Law (library support), Not-for-Profit Corporation Law (library associations), and relevant areas of State Technology Law and General Municipal Law.
Senator Siela A. Bynoe is the current Chair. The committee consists of about 7–9 members and meets throughout session weeks, with the latest roster posted on the Senate’s website.
