Senate
The Senate Transportation Committee develops and reviews legislation affecting highways, roads, bridges, mass transit systems, traffic safety, airports, rail, and driver and vehicle regulations. It works to ensure a modern, efficient, and safe transportation infrastructure across the state.
The committee’s jurisdiction includes Transportation Law (state and local transportation policy), Vehicle and Traffic Law (rules for drivers and vehicles), Public Authorities Law (transit authorities like the MTA), and relevant sections of State Finance Law.
Senator Timothy M. Kennedy is Chair; Senator Joseph Griffo is Ranking Member. There are about 17–19 members, and meetings are regularly scheduled during the session.
