The New York State Assembly Transportation Committee manages legislation related to the planning, funding, operation, and regulation of the state’s transportation infrastructure. Its work includes oversight of highways, roads, bridges, mass transit systems, traffic safety, and regulatory issues for drivers, vehicles, and public transit.
The Committee’s jurisdiction spans Transportation Law (covering transit agencies, highway programs, and vehicle regulation), Vehicle and Traffic Law, sections of Public Authorities Law (Metropolitan Transportation Authority and other transit bodies), and relevant portions of State Finance Law (transport funding).
Assembly Member William B. Magnarelli is Chair, and the Ranking Member is a senior member from the minority. The committee consists of around 28 members and meets frequently during session weeks. Membership lists and meeting times are available on the official Assembly website.
