The New York State Assembly Veterans’ Affairs Committee handles legislation and policy supporting New York’s veterans, active-duty service members, and military families. The committee’s main focus includes veteran benefits, health and mental health support, housing, education, employment, and the recognition of military service.
The Committee’s legal authority covers Veterans’ Services Law, sections of the Executive Law (Division of Veterans’ Services), Military Law, and portions of Social Services Law (veteran benefits and assistance).
